Do your ears hang low?

A quick blurb about some inspiration from the WalMart cashier this morning.

She had clear inserts in her ears about as big as a half-dollar coin and it was all I could do to not bust out into a chorus of:

Do you ears hang low?
Do they wobble to and fro?
Can you tie 'em in knot?
Can you tie 'em in a bow?

Do your ears, hang, low?

She was a very nice young lady and I did ask her how long it had taken to stretch her ears to fit the half-dollar sized jewelery and she excitedly responded with:

"It's taken about 3 years and I'm getting some bigger ones this week!"

It was a positive exchange but it still perplexes me a bit. I now find myself on the other side of that coin where I don't completely understand teenage culture.

God bless me to have easy teenagers that choose not to mutilate their bodies!

Missy'd beat them down if they tried to mutilate their bodies!! But that's why we need to stay in Waynesboro and not move to KS. Missy may have to beat Dallin down cuz he's already asking for a cell phone. Whatever!

I laughed so hard when I read this, I just kept looking at the picture you posted and imagined that person working in Walmart!!! Anyhow, Abby So wants her ears pierced this year (as one of her friends has just had theirs done), and I keep waiting for her friends' ears to turn pussy and septic or something but they haven't. Knowing my luck, if I did pierce Abby's ears, they would turn septic and she would be in agonizing pain for weeks until we took them out... huge waste of $40! My mom didn't let me have my ears pierced until I was 12... oh why can't she just be happy with those uncomfortable dollar store clip on earrings???
